Stopping the cigar smoking

Once you get into any kind of addiction, stopping it is a long process that needs your will, motivation and perseverance. Depending on the duration of the usage, the chemical composition of your body is affected differently. So in the effort to stop cigars smoking you will need to address few issues as what makes you smoke, how many do you smoke in a day and what your motivation.  

Sometimes the motivation could be of need to stop your health from deteriorating, need to save money, changing of your way of life as joining a certain religion or occupation which prohibits smoking or just being fed up with the activity.

The first step is to get rid of all items that remind you of smoking as humidors and other activities that make you or force you to light up as drinking, peers or even stress. Then get yourself alternative activities to fill in the smoking as sports, gum chewing or volunteering in local activities where smoking is not allowed or you get new friend that do not smoke.  

Mark on your calendar the days as they pass and strive to make your effort a success and frequently meditate on your earlier and new self. This is better referred to as self help smoking program.

In extreme case you can cut down your smoking gradually; from five a day to zero in a set time frame. Alternatively you can use alternatives as supplements tablets and fake cigars to replace the lack of nicotine in your body. Also you can check yourself into rehabilitation center or start attending therapy sessions similar to AA. Even here the disposal of your cigar accessories and other smoking paraphernalia is vital.
